Melissa Winkler-York

Melissa Winkler-York opened her own law practice in July 2009 after working as an associate attorney at another law firm for almost five years. She was admitted to the Indiana Bar in the fall of 2004, having earned her J.D. at the Indiana University School of Law at Indianapolis (now called the Robert H. McKinney School of Law). She attended Purdue University and earned her B.A. in 2000.

Melissa is licensed to practice in the State of Indiana, the U.S. District Court Northern District of Indiana, the U.S. District Court Southern District of Indiana, and the United States 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Melissa also occasionally serves as a judge pro tempore and guardian ad litem.

Melissa handles primarily family law in Marion and Johnson Counties. She aslo takes some sentence modification and criminal defense cases.

Brooke Bernhardt

Brooke began working as an associate attorney for the Law Office of Melissa Winkler-York, LLC in October 2014. Prior to that, she was an intern at Swenson and Clark, LLP in Carmel, IN and at Rudolph, Fine, Porter & Johnson in Evansville, IN.

Brooke was admitted to the Indiana Bar in the fall of 2014, having graduated from the Robert H. McKinney School of Law in May 2014. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Purdue University in 2010.

Brooke handles family law cases in most counties in Indiana. She also takes elder law cases, criminal defense cases, and sentence modifications.

Zach Phillips

Zach began working as an associate attorney for the Law Office of Melissa Winkler-York, LLC in March 2016.

Zach was admitted to the Indiana Bar in the fall of 2014, having graduated from the Robert H. McKinney School of Law in May 2014.

Zach handles criminal defense (including PCRs and appeals), elder law, family law, and personal injury cases.
